Scrap Day

Jill says:
31/8/10 Today my friend Sandra and I were students in a class taught by Mel (my blog partner!). It was a great class about pleating and ruching (I think that's how you spell it). Here is a snapshot of the page I started (it's not complete yet-I'm still working on it tonight). What a great way to finish my month.

Circle Journal

Jill says:
30/8/10 Today I worked on my circle journal for our November retreat. Here is a sneak peak at the journal. It's called "Words To Live By" and the theme is your life's motto. It is certainly a work in progress. I just hope I'm ready in November with all my pages for all the journals.

Spring has Sprung (almost)

Jill says:
29/8/10 Today we paid a visit to the local nursery and bought some spring/summer plants in anticipation of the months to come. Some lettuces and strawberries in the edible line and pansies, petunias and geraniums for colour. Now we just have to remember to water them!

Gold Coast Show

Jill says:

28/8/10 No I did not go on this ride. It looked freaky. We had a fun time on the dodgem cars though and watching the fireworks. There was loads of fun stuff to do today at the Gold Coast Show

Pub Lunch

Jill says:
27/8/10 This is where we had our pub lunch today. Pretty swanky for a pub hey. My husband asked my son and myself to join him and a couple of friends on their traditional Friday pub lunch at The Grand. Good friends, good food, great family!

Preparation

Jill says:
26/8/10 Today I spent a small amount of time updating my Lifescrap 365 diary. You see, Mel gave me the idea of buying a month to an opening diary and writing in it each time I took a photo for Lifescrap 365 and journal at the same time so it's all ready at the end of the month.
This month I have just been doing it straight to the blog and as I am still planning to physically scrap 8 photos the traditional way with journalling, I thought today I would take the time to work out so far which photos I need to print and write down the journalling from those days. It was a welcome distraction/balance from what I have been working on.

All Work

Jill says:
25/8/10 Well this is what I worked on today. I am working on a challenging project at the moment that is represented by these files. I volunteered for a couple of hours this morning then came home to try to take some more action on my project. I interrupted the action with some wonderful phone calls with great friends and then nose back to the grindstone.

Soup Weather

Jill says:
24/8/10 Usually I make soup all winter. This year has been very different in many ways including the fact that I haven't made soup at all this winter, until today. You see, my son doesn't like soup. It's not the flavour, or the look, it's the consistency. He doesn't do runny food. My husband on the other hand, loves pumpkin soup. I have been promising him pumpkin soup all winter. So today I finally got around to making it. It was yum. Had it with spelt garlic bread and some parmesan cheese with a dollop of sour cream on top. Well, I think that's it for this year as far as soup goes!
I have to say, I do welcome the end of August. It's not that I don't have things I can photograph. Let's just say, I'm looking forward to boring you less next month.

A Treasured Piece

Jill says:
23/8/10 I bought this piece of furniture back from my parent's house today. It's an old marble top washstand. I'm not sure how old it is but I do remember it being in our shearer's quarters for most of my childhood. I am fortunate enough to be able to keep this piece from my parent's antique collection to remember them by.

Bathtime!

Jill says
22/8/10 This little cutie is one of the dogs who call my sister-in-law Mum. Today was their day to have a haircut and a bath. They are gorgeous dogs. This guy's name is Willy and the other puppy's name is Lolly. They will need to wear their knitted coats to bed tonight to keep them warm.

Winner!

Jill says:
21/8/10 The boy won his basketball semi final. So they are straight into the semi final. It's a three week wait which is a bit of bad timing. Gotta stay at peak performance! He had an awesome game-the best of the season.

It's Raining, It's Pouring!

Jill says:
20/8/10 It was lovely to go to sleep last night listening to the sound of rain and waking up to it this morning as well. I love the sound of rain on the tin roof of our pergola. It makes a pretty pattern on the surface of our pool as well. I wonder how long it will hang around for.....

Family Time

Jill says:
19/8/10 Well I guess you gotta take family time any way you can get it....

It's My Lucky Day

Jill says:
18/8/10 When you find $50 on the footpath, what do you do? It certainly puts you in a quandary. One I'm happy to be in! That to me is pure luck!

Tree of Life

Jill says:
17/8/10 I love my new scarf. I got it yesterday at Tree of Life (love that shop!). I had to wear it today. Besides the fact that it keeps my sore throat nice and warm and cozy, the colours in it cheer me up.

But Wait, There's More...

Jill says:
16/8/10 So I went out this morning to get some baskets for the shelves in our new cabinet. All the games, dvds and accessories are now stowed away neatly and hopefully user friendly. Maybe I might do up some labels so everyone knows what's in each basket (instead of it being a guessing game for everyone else!).

It's Finally Up

Jill says:
15/8/10 Here it is. Our new entertainment unit is finally set up and in use. It would definitely look better with a big plasma and an ipod docking station on top. I'm still very happy with how it looks. I have a few things to do-some shelves from Ikea for above the tv, a new lamp and some storage baskets for inside the unit for dvds etc. It's amazing how much a change of furniture can completely change the look of a room.

Dinner Out

Jill says:
14/8/10 Well tonight we braved a night out. I'm not sure if you have been following my journey this year. For those of you that haven't, Jacob, my son has been on a gluten free, wheat free diet since April and very sick before that. We love to go to Sizzler for dinner every now and then as it's pretty healthy and we can all eat what we want. Jacob feels very independent because he gets to choose his food. We haven't been all year and now that the naturopath has said Jacob is allowed wheat every now and then, he chose to celebrate by going to Sizzler and eating their pasta (he loves it!). So here we all are, at Sizzler, tonight.

Making The Most Of Time

Jill says:
13/8/10 It's not often I get the opportunity to sit with my husband, just the two of us. Today I really enjoyed the time he spent in my office while he was eating his late brekky. We chatted about some things that had happened and how his morning of fishing was. I thank Lifescrap365 for helping to ensure I enjoyed this moment instead of letting it slip away into the "busy-ness" of the day.

Boil, Boil, Toil and Trouble

Jill says:
12/8/10 Do you think this looks like a witches brew in a cauldron? Well not quite. You see, I have been feeling like something unhealthy is trying to take hold of me since Monday. So what I have been doing is making myself green smoothies. If you haven't heard about green smoothies before, they consist of a cup or so of greens (I use baby spinach cos it doesn't taste too strong), two fruits and some water. I like banana and blueberries. I have to drink it in a cup with a lid on it so that you can't see what it looks like, that's why I use my thermos cup. It actually tastes yummy and it is a big kick to the immune system. I can still feel that 'thing' lurking in the background though. More green smoothies for me by the looks.

Tonight's Sunset

Jill says:
11/8/10 I was in the kitchen when I noticed a sort of pink hue coming from outside. When I looked out to the sky, there were beautiful lilacs and pinks in the sky. I grabbed my camera for the shot of the day. I'm not sure this photo does it justice. It truly was a beautiful finish to what started out to be a fairly miserable looking day.

Slave Labour

Jill says:
10/8/10 My son had a little extra time at home today from school and so he decided, after ironing his clothes for school this morning for the first time, that he likes ironing and that he wanted to do all the ironing in the overflowing ironing basket. He did a great job and gained himself a hefty sum as a reward. Perhaps I might keep him home from school everyday to do the ironing! And the washing! And the....

Monday morning checklist

Melissa says:
Love a good productive day. Nothing quite like the school drop off and coming home to an empty house where I can do what I like and when I want. Today, it's all about finishing off the little bits and pieces that have been gathering on my workroom desk. It's only a few days until my next class and I still have a double layout to start. But until I get all of these other things out of the way, there are just too many other distractions. Consider this another item off the list.

Indoor Water Feature

Jill says:
9/8/10 This was the source of our indoor water feature this morning. It was installed shortly before 7.30 as we were getting ready for school. I turned on the bath for Jacob and instead of him getting up, he actually fell back to sleep. I guess we have all had days like that. Lucky The Rug Doctor machine was still in my car from cleaning my rental property on the weekend. They really suck(the water up that is)!

Just July

Melissa says:
Yes, it is true that I did have a teeny weeny dig at Jill about posting her entries before the end of the month. Possibly I was just so jealous that hers is always done first. Of course, as soon as the comment passed my lips, I knew there would be a way she would get to turn it to a positive. So each morning I log onto view her pics for the month of August.

At times, I've wanted to take a more streamlined approach to scrapbooking. But at the end of the day, I love the busy and highly embellished look. It's reflected in the way I live my life, the way my house is furnished and how I fill my days with creative passions.

As Lifescrap progressed this month, I have started to rethink how I want to change the overall look of my album next year. Jill suggested, "Why wait". Great point. However, I want to see through what I started and continue on, so it looks the same for the remaining few months.

Today's Angel

Jill says:

8/8/10 I definitely had an angel looking over me today. There was a moment in time today when I knew there was something or someone lining things up for me. It was just such perfect timing and I was so grateful for that moment. It was one of those moments when you want to high 5 everyone in sight and shout "Yeh, alright!" This is a photo of the angel hanging from my rear view mirror who looks over me every day.

After a Hard Day's Work

Jill says:
7/8/10 Well we worked hard today and now it's time to wash the dirt of the day away and go out for dinner. Sandra snapped this photo of me all washed up and ready to venture out in downtown Tara!

A Weary Traveller

Jill says:
6/8/10 Today's August break photo is one taken by my friend Sandra. She snapped this truck on my camera as we were leaving Dalby. Great photo considering both vehicles (mine and the truck) would have been going at least 100 k/hr. We only had another hour to travel after this photo to reach our destination!

Time for a Cuppa

Jill says:
5/8/10 As part of Jacob's wellness routine these days, he is required to consume a cup of green tea every morning. He likes it in a fine china cup (not sure where he gets that from.....). This is this morning's cuppa. It sure does the trick.

Busy Day

Jill says:
4/8/2010 Got a busy day on today. Sat down and wrote out my 'to do' list. I am a bit of a list maker and find it really helps to get the thoughts running around my head down on paper. **Sigh**

Flowers for Me!

Jill says:

My gorgeous boy went outside to our jasmine bush this morning and picked me some flowers. As I sit here now, their scent is filling my nostrils. Spring is just around the corner. Can't wait!

Copping Some Flack

Jill says:

Well it appears that putting your Lifescrap365 efforts up before the end of the month is not acceptable, says Mel in not so many words and she has laid down the challenge that she wants me to double it this month. It appears that taking 8 photos a month was ok with a sick child but with a healthy child, 8 is not enough! So I said "I may or may not take up the challenge". Then I read about this great idea on Facebook and I think I am going to attempt it, just to spice things up a bit. http://blog.sweetsoliloquies.com/2010/07/31/3813/
So, my goal is to take a photo each day for the month of August. I am planning to blog every couple of days and I will display the photos for the previous days. I probably will still physically scrap 8 photos however there should be 30 odd photos on here by the end of August courtesy of me. So here are the first two photos.

1/8/2010 The first photo is of my Pazzles Inspiration machine which worked tirelessly yesterday creating titles to finish off the 11 layouts I created at the all day scrap event I attended on Saturday.
2/8/2010 The next photo is of my new entertainment unit which was delivered a little while ago. Exciting, can't wait to open it.
Well I'm off to a great start! See you real soon with some more pics.
